A special commissioned piece that I did for a customer whose great uncle landed on this beach on June 6, 1944. Three days later, he and many others were killed in action at "Hell's Corner" on June 9, 1944.
My client had visited Juno beach and collected some sand. As a tribute to this fallen soldier, I incorporate the sand from the beach into the painting inspired by a picture my customer had taken of the spot.
What an honour to be entrusted with this sentimental piece of history.
